Workshop on the Conversion of CO2 to Fuels
On the 18th of September from 1-4 pm (CET) the COZMOS project in cooperation with TAKE-OFF, C2Fuel and 4Aircraft will hold the online Workshop on the Conversion of CO2 to Fuels.
During the webinar, the four projects which are all focusing on the thermal, catalytic conversion of CO2 to synthetic fuels and chemicals will present their major results and in particular the technical developments within their technologies.
Andrei Khodakov, Research Director at our project partner CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) will deliver a presentation titled “Methanol-mediated synthesis of sustainable aviation fuels from CO2 “ during which will present our TAKE-OFF technologies and current results.
- 1 – 1.05 pm Introduction
- 1.05 – 2.05 pm COZMOS (Production of C3 fuels and chemical building blocks)
- 2.05 – 2:15 pm Q&A
- 2:15 – 2:25 pm Break
- 2:25 – 2:50 pm C2Fuel (Production of DME and formic acid)
- 2:50 – 3:15 pm TAKE-OFF (Production of synthetic aviation fuels)
- 3:15 – 3:40 pm 4Aircraft (Production of aviation fuels)
- 3:40 – 3:50 Wrap up
TAKE-OFF aims to produce more energy-efficient, and high environmental performance Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at lower cost to decrease the carbon footprint and climate impact of flying.
In that context, the project will develop and industrially validate innovative processes for the direct conversion of CO2 and renewable H2 to light olefins and subsequent conversion to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Next to this, the indirect conversion of CO2 and renewable H2 to light olefins, via methanol/dimethyl ether will also be demonstrated. Both technology developments for the direct and the indirect route are complementary and serve to advance the development of the proposed technology chain, while also minimising risk by a multi-angle approach.
