TAKE-OFF hosted its second Open Doors Day at its project partner SDU

Today, TAKE-OFF hosted its second Open Doors Day at its project partner SDU’s premises in Odense, Southern Denmark.

Our one-day event was attended by twenty participants from all over Europe. It started with a detailed presentation by the Secretary General, Anastasios Perimenis, of our project partner CO2 Value Europe who discussed their first-of-a-kind quantitative assessment of the contribution of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) towards climate neutrality in the EU.

This was followed by an inspiring overview of the future market deployment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by Dusita de Hoop, Future Fuels Analyst at our project partner SkyNRG and a detailed presentation of the TAKE-OFF project by our Project Coordinator Georgiana Stan.

Our morning continued with Nicolas Merle from our project partner, University of Lille, giving a presentation on the challenges of increasing carbon efficiency in the production of CO2-based SAF and CVE giving participants an overview on the contribution of the RefuelEU regulation to decarbonise the aviation sector by 2050.

The second part of the meeting focused on the TAKE-OFF project’s takeaways on environmental and techno-economic assessments by Benyamin Khoshnevisan, Assistant Professor at our hosting partner SDU. The event concluded with a presentation on Nordic Electrofuel’s POX-rWGS reactor technology and its first commercial power-to-liquid jet fuel plant in Norway which plans to start production of e-SAF in 2025.

The TAKE-OFF Open Doors days are organised to bring research and innovation closer to the general public and involve local communities in the different steps of the project’s development.
